Dr. Walid Hejazi

Walid Hejazi is an Associate Professor of International Business at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, where he regularly teaches Canada’s current and future business leaders in the MBA, EMBA, and custom Executive programs. His areas of research include Global Competitiveness, Foreign Investment, International Trade, Financial Markets and Monetary Policy. He has published over 50 articles in academic peer reviewed journals and has published extensively in mainstream magazines and websites such as the Banker magazine, the Globe and Mail, National Post, Maclean’s Magazine, opecnanada.org, and many others. He is the recipient of several teaching and research awards, most recently for a paper that highlights the importance of the English language in doing business internationally. He has appeared five times before Canadian parliamentary committees on various issues related to Canada’s competitive position globally. The focus has been on issues including international trade, foreign investment, competition in Canada’s telecom sector, and global tax structures. He has also consulted with several governments globally on strategies to enhance their global competitive positions. He has also introduced the first graduate course in Islamic Finance in Canada.
